I've decide to start creating a record of my attempts to become a digital artist. Most of my initial posts are likely to be sketches or speed-painting quality (without the speed), but I figure this to be the best point to start creating a record of my work.
I have a pretty basic set up: Wacom Bamboo Tablet, 28" widescreen monitor, and GIMP (and occasionally Photoshop elements). Nothing spectacular, but enough for me to play with something similar to the real world.
I'm working at an amateur level and, while I would love to become professional, I have to balance this against my actual career and family. Becoming a professional clearly takes a lot of commitment; I would be happy as a competent amateur. As a result of my other commitments, posts may be infrequent and of varying quality, but hopefully always interesting...excluding this rambling introduction.
I have a style at the moment that I enjoy, but I'm trying to expand. My biggest weakness is in landscapes and scenery; a secondary weakness is implied action in a picture. Hopefully you'll get a chance to see me try and break these weaknesses down and, I hope, provide some insights of your own (including weaknesses I may not have perceived). I've started a blog, so clearly have too high an opinion of myself...if anyone has any constructive criticism or advice, I would be very grateful.
Thanks for visiting and I hope to be showing you some artwork very soon.
